Awareness Alerts

GAINING Awareness Alerts inform parents, healthcare professionals and government agencies about the risks associated with screen use by and around children under age 3. The Alerts provide essential science-based recommendations for promoting healthy early childhood development as well as natural, non-screen approaches to nurturing very young children.

What Are the Awareness Alerts?

Developed globally by GAINING members, the Alerts are based on professional knowledge and extensive research. The purpose of the Alerts is to help caregivers, healthcare providers, and policymakers establish safe, screen-free environments to support human-to-human interaction, emotional bonding, and sensory exploration for the optimal cognitive and emotional development of very young children.

Who Benefits from these Alerts?

Our alerts are designed to support:

  • Government Agencies: Offering policy recommendations for supporting parents and limiting young children’s screen exposure in childcare settings.
  • Parents & Guardians: Providing guidance on the harmful associations with screen use by and around very young children as well as practical non-tech strategies for fostering secure emotional attachment and healthy physical development.
  • Healthcare Professionals: Ensuring up-to-date information on the impacts of screen use by and around very young children and providing recommendations for early intervention in cases of problematic screen usage.
